We have a flourishing gentlemen's section at Hallamshire Golf Club and are always happy to welcome new members to our midst. All standards of golf are catered for and you would be playing on one of the best courses in Yorkshire.
There are plenty of competitions organised throughout the year for the serious golfer but if casual golf is your scene then we have small friendly competitions on most days where you can turn up and play. This is also a good way for members to get acquainted.

We are a friendly, welcoming and supportive group of women at Hallamshire.
We are pleased to say that we are one of the largest and strongest groups of female club golfers in the area. There are many factors contributing to this, the most obvious being the great course which is maintained to an excellent standard throughout the year [despite the weather], with some of the best greens in the country.
Our main competition day is Wednesday but we run mixed competitions on Thursdays, Saturday and some Sundays throughout the playing season.
We have 9 hole competitions for those who are less time rich, we have three 9 hole courses rated and approved by England Golf.
During the course of the year there are all sorts of competition formats to enjoy, team matches, knockouts, drawn fun competitions, but also plenty of people and time to play social and mixed golf too.
We do enter teams in the Yorkshire Interclub leagues and we are the founding club for the Sheffield Evening League, which is a 9 hole friendly league involving local clubs, played in the summer at 6.00pm.
New members are always welcome and encouraged by existing members to join in with all aspects of the club..
We introduced a Pathway to Golf in 2019 to encourage women and girls to get into golf. Our lead on this programme is Holly Morgan our Assistant Head Professional if you want to find out more.

Hallamshire has a thriving Junior Section and reduced fees - we welcome young golfers of all abilities from total beginner to single-handicap, world-dominating young girls and boys. At present the Club caters for some 50 young golfers ranging from 8 to 17 years of age.
We are incredibly proud of the achievements of our Juniors, and have been blessed in recent times with a wealth of talent – including US Open champion Matt Fitzpatrick and Barclay Brown, who qualified for The Open and the US Open in 2023/24.
We run a number of club competitions specifically for Junior players and Juniors with a suitable HI may participate in most of the adult competitions. Regular Junior group coaching sessions are run by our PGA Professional – please contact the Pro Shop for details.
There are many members of senior status within the club who participate in the various formal and casual gentlemen’s golf competitions and events throughout the year. Within the Seniors Section, there is a smaller cohesive group of senior players who belong to the Hallamshire Active Retired Players Society (HARPS). It is a friendly group of retired or semi-retired members within the club.
Throughout the year, HARPS members play in their own friendly competitions within the club. Additionally during the season, one of its real strengths is the opportunity for members to enjoy senior matches against other like-minded players at nine local clubs.
